How Much Sugar to Eat in 1 Day
Hey WEBE’s!
Hmm… I kinda like the sound of the that!
So I have to admit that I have been “bad” and have a HUGE sweet tooth.
I love Breyer’s Strawberry Ice Cream and any type of ice cream and it really sucks when it’s around the house just because I know it’s there and it calls me whenever I see it! Ice cream is tastes great, don’t get me wrong, but it totally kills my diet (by diet I don’t mean dieting, I just mean what I eat on a day to day basis). Check out the stats on this baby from the recipe calculator.
Look at this chart.

1 cup of this ice cream has a whopping 30 grams of sugar and a mere 4 grams of protein. Ice cream is definitely HIGH in sugar.
Now let’s look at the measurements to really visualize what 30 grams of sugar looks like.
It comes at about a little above 2 tablespoons.
| 3 teaspoons | 1 tablespoon | 1/2 ounce | 14.3 grams |
| 2 tablespoons | 1/8 cup | 1 ounce | 28.3 grams |
| 4 tablespoons | 1/4 cup | 2 ounces | 56.7 grams |
| 5 1/3 tablespoons | 1/3 cup | 2.6 ounces | 75.6 grams |
| 8 tablespoons | 1/2 cup | 4 ounces | 113.4 grams |
| 12 tablespoons | 3/4 cup | 6 ounces | .375 pound |
| 32 tablespoons | 2 cups | 16 ounces | 1 pound |
What does 2 tablespoons look like?
The Green one is a tablespoon, so imagine 2 spoonfuls of that filled with sugar. Now can you imagine just eating that much sugar on it’s own? Kind of gross for me to think about, but it’s not uncommon at all.

How much sugar is too much?
American Heart Association (AHA) recommends how much sugar per day we should take, the recommended daily sugar intake, which is healthy and not harmful for the body, has been developed for men and women. How much sugar per day should we take:
- Recommended Daily Sugar Intake for Men: 36 grams
- Recommended Daily Sugar Intake for Women: 20 grams or
- Recommended Daily Sugar Intake for Children: 12 grams
So according to the AHA, I have gone overboard on my sugar intake for my whole day because of this 1 cup of ice cream.
Now on the other hand, If I had just drank my favorite protein shake:
I would have only drank 1 gram of sugar, and taken in 27 grams of protein. This is a way better alternative and still tastes great. I could also have eating fruit, or other carbs that have way more nutrients.

Now here is the part where I really regret the sugar I took in. There are just so many reasons to limit your sugar intake, and take a hold of your life!!
